As a TRICARE Prime enrollee, you’ll primarily visit your primary care manager for most of your healthcare needs, including routine and non-emergency care.
Whether you’re new to the TRICARE East Region or just searching for a new PCM, here are answers to some common questions to get started.
Does everyone with a TRICARE Prime health plan have a PCM?
Yes, all TRICARE Prime enrollees have a PCM, either chosen by the enrollee or assigned to them. Your PCM can be a provider from the military hospital or clinic or a civilian network provider. However, any civilian network provider must be a TRICARE-authorized providerAn authorized provider is any individual, institution/organization, or supplier that is licensed by a state, accredited by national organization, or meets other standards of the medical community, and is certified to provide benefits under TRICARE. There are two types of TRICARE-authorized providers: Network and Non-Network. DS within a Prime Service Area. If you wish to request to change your PCM to a civilian network provider or select a PCM for the first time, you can do so at any time.
How can I change my PCM?
To change your PCM to a civilian network provider, first contact the military hospital or clinic where you’re enrolled to ensure they authorize transfers to civilian network providers. If approved, reach out to the civilian network provider to confirm they accept new patients. Once you have this confirmation, you can submit your request either online or through customer service.
Can I request a change online?
Yes. If approved, you can select a civilian network provider or change to another PCM within the military hospital or clinic by submitting your request through Beneficiary Web Enrollment. If you select the default date, which is six days in the future, the change will be retroactive to the date you submitted your request. If you choose a different date, the change will take effect on that specified date.
Submit your request through BWE
Can I make a change request by mail?
Yes. You can submit a completed TRICARE Prime enrollment and PCM change form by mail. Be sure to fill out the sponsor section, the PCM change section, the signature section, and the Access to Care section, if necessary. The change will take effect once we receive the PCM change form.
Download the form here: Download PCM Change Form (DD2876).
How will I know when my change is made?
Once we process your PCM request, you’ll receive an email or postcard with instructions on how to access milConnect, where you can find the new PCM’s name and phone number. Please wait for this confirmation before getting services.
