Check out RefSeq release 229, now available online and from the FTP site. You can access RefSeq data through NCBI Datasets. The release is provided in several directories as a complete dataset and also as divided by logical groupings.
As of March 3, 2025, this full release incorporates genomic, transcript, and protein data containing:
This release contains new or updated annotations generated by NCBI’s eukaryotic genome annotation pipeline for 30 species, including:
The sequences associated with GCF_902729225.1 should be Pteropus medius (Taxonomy ID 143291). However, some data updates related to BioSample SAMEA5634742 were not complete by the time of this release, so the sequences are currently assigned to Pteropus vampyrus (Taxonomy ID 132908).
In this release, approximately 75 million proteins are missing expected CDD annotation. This issue is related to a processing error and is currently being investigated.
As previously mentioned, NCBI will add binomial species names to about 3,000 viruses to reflect changes to the International Code of Virus Classification and Nomenclature (ICVCN).
RefSeq is part of the NIH Comparative Genomics Resource (CGR). CGR facilitates reliable comparative genomics analyses for all eukaryotic organisms through an NCBI Toolkit and community collaboration.
