During the 76 days between the close dates for GenBank releases 264.0 and 265.0, the traditional portion of GenBank grew by 329,543,675,405 base pairs and by 1,304,790 sequence records. We updated 890,962 records during that same period. We added and/or updated an average of 28,891 traditional records per day!

Between releases 264.0 and 265.0, the WGS component of GenBank grew by 2,660,948,496,961 base pairs and by 195,495,615 sequence records. The TSA component of GenBank grew by 4,311,005,430 base pairs and by 4,087,914 sequence records. The TLS component of GenBank grew by 1,024,051,089 base pairs and by 2,354,473 sequence records.

The total number of sequence data files with this release increased by 317. The divisions are as follows:

  • BCT: 16 new files, now a total of 428
  • ENV: 3 new files, now a total of 30
  • INV: 130 new files, now a total 1212
  • MAM: 8 new files, now a total of 173
  • PAT: 1 new file, now a total of 81
  • PLN: 102 new files, now a total of 1977
  • SYN: 1 new file, now a total of 10
  • VRL: 4 new files, now a total of 337
  • VRT: 52 new files, now a total of 369

There are currently no planned changes for GenBank flat file FTP products.

For downloading purposes, please keep in mind that the uncompressed GenBank release 265.0 sequence data flat files require roughly 7,887 GB. The ASN.1 data files require approximately 2,704 GB.
