How to lubricate dental low speed handpiece?

Lubrication of the dental delivery unit’s handpieces is necessary to keep them in good working condition. The procedure described below takes only a few minutes per day and should be done to avoid overheating of the handpieces, which is not covered by the warranty. Oil, in either a bottle or in a spray format, can be used.

Step 1

The low-speed handpiece can be broken down into three parts.

 Step 2

Lubricate the second largest hole at the bottom of the handpiece.

Step 3

Lubricate both ends of the contra-angle .

Step 4

Lubricate both ends of the prophy angle.

Step 5

Re-assemble and operate the handpiece for 10 seconds, then wipe clean the excess oil on the exterior of the handpiece. After these steps, it is ready to use.
